Put simply, the aim is to make beautiful hand crafted pieces for everyday living.
Cocoon&me was established in Brighton by Paula Clark in January 2017 after a long and successful career as a fashion designer working for many of the UK’s best known brands.
Leading fashion & style director & editor of the stylish stuff, Shelley Vella skilfully captures the spirit of Cocoon & me when she says: “Bohemian, with a thoroughly modern nod to the 70s – Cocoon&me is one of my favourite finds of 2017. Ethical – vegan & infinitely stylish, this little modern day hippie is totally smitten” .”
Paula works with planet friendly materials jute, rope, cotton and recycled textiles. She updates traditional techniques such as macrame, crochet & knitting to produce a range of original beautiful products for you, the home & garden. All products are handcrafted & unique, the realisation of the designer’s creative spirit & love of aesthetic beauty.
Products include: Giant macrame plant hangers for interior & exterior living, lovingly made textile wall-hangings, designer bags with contemporary crochet twists, handcrafted knitted blankets & cushions, wearable designer items such as snoods & even bespoke pet baskets for the most special members of your family those adored cats and dogs!
Cocoon&me is a small, independent & committed to good business practice with sustainability & ethical conduct at its heart. All materials are carefully sourced & recycled where possible. The business is also involved in local community projects & works in partnership with a range of like-minded independents. We also run fun, small group workshops teaching maker’s skills giving the opportunity for you & your friends to make your very own bespoke & beautiful pieces. Paula’s macrame classes are proving be particularly popular with the renascence of plants.
Business owner Paula fell in love with all things creative at a very young age whilst helping her multi-talented artist mother in her Covent Garden studio in the 1970s. Paula grew up in an environment buzzing with creativity, art & design & went on to study a specialist Textile Degree at Middlesex. Notably, she was the winner of the prestigious Textprint prize for her final year degree show. The award was made in person by Paul Smith no less!
In 2016, Paula decided to follow her long held dream of being her own business & Cocoon&me was born. From the very start, the aim has been to create a brand of beautiful things for like-minded people whilst respecting the people & planet that we all rely upon.
